I have 2nd order crossover both on the upper knee of the ob bass section and on the lower knee of the midbass section. My measurements show phase response and the summed spl is as good as it can get. Have you tried the direct servo technology or do y...

As I already have written before, I was looking at different bass solutions for frequencies below 110hz with my set-up. As of this weekend I have set-up a new solution and will be evaluating and fine tuning it for the coming days. The new bass sectio...

Thank you for your support on debugging Romy. When I had the soundsmith and encountered the problem, Mr. Lederman tried to help me and we did something along your lines. Rather than digital, we did it with his sg200. mains-->PP-->sg200 (input s...

It is the second Romy, the noise is always present. There was always a little noise but when I had a soundsmith strain gauge system arrive, I was expecting not to have any noise. It is a hum free device. When I installed it thought, there was a buzz....

I have direct dedicated line from the pole (electrical company) just for my sound system. This comes to a silent wire sound fuse fusebox (https://www.silent-wire.de/en/installationen/sound-fuse.html) and then directly to furutech rhodium plated non m...

Well, with my unit, you are right under one condition. It does not matter if I am on the battery or the ac line as long as the unit is connected, it sounds the same but it does not perform good. However if I am on the battery and I disconnect the reg...

Here, you can see the distance to front wall. The wall is about 10cms behind the moss garden.About 35cms to the wooden binary diffusors surface. Another 55cm to the drivers and total distance to front structural wall is about 90cm (2,95feet)Maybe mor...

The room is actually bigger now (about 75m2) but the whole orientation has changed. The speakers were at the opposite side of the room near the windows. Having windows for a front wall had a detrimental effect on sound in the old layout. The absorpti...

I just wanted to make an update. I have since rebuilt our main room and am very happy about it. Having a very good and homogenous decay (within 0,05ms) for the whole audio band really turns the listening experience in to something else. Total clarity...

I guess I am the lucky one! I met my wife through music, we both were writing ambient/experimental stuff back then but did not have much of a chance to have face to face time, just exchanging music and being in different cities, well... Fast forward ...

Romy you take it from the wrong end. Of course the image is vastly different as the sound is in your head with the headphones and not laid out in front of you. But a centre image is exactly at centre (not in front but centre, a phantom inside your he...
|
I heard the same not just from one but from a few guys for my playback as well! I think it is because of the all encompassing effect and the strength of the stereo image. Most people have never heard that strong of a phantom centre, or an orchestra a...

When you say, your horns are 11feet apart, does this mean from acoustic centre line, or the outside perimeter of the upper bass horn. If it is from the outside perimeter of the upper bass horn you are having a similar setup with mine. When they are a...
|
Why dont you use your midrange horn with the JBL from 600hz to 4800hz? I think it would have a fairly flat and good response and tt wont be beaming. It works with the tractrix 1000, I have done it before. I then tried my Radian 475be with JMLC1400 fr...

Paul, there is no dsp. Mine is just a hypex subwoofer ds series plate amp having the hypex ucd180 module inside. There were bigger and more powerful ones having the ucd400 or the ucd800. I think they may have stopped manufacturing this line actually....
|
I use hypex amp on my tapped horn (so ULF) and it is great. I use a plate version specifically built for sub duties. It has a 18db filter as well as a rotary phase knob which comes in handy! I have had no problems, and can not say its doing anything ...
|
Keep in mind that my crossovers are not just 6db filters. There is an impedance correction network, suited to these exact drivers in these horns. Unless this correction is there, the first order filters can not work against the rising or falling impe...

Which values are you after? If its the crossover points, here they are, they ay be indicative for you;dual Tad1601b's in 298lt br boxes - open on bottom to 120 Hz, in a range 90 to 150 Hz ~12 dB (three different settings can be chosen, according to r...

Khorn has about 2meters path length so they have to be positioned closer with false corners in Romy's case to be aligned. If they are at the back one has to add the distance from horns plus the path length of the khorn bass bin and delay the rest of ...

Maybe you remember, even though I liked sealed enclosures I chose the ported bass boxes for my system. The reason was the TAD 1601b's in my situation. They just work and sound better with ported enclosures as they were designed to be used that way.Ma...

Romy, I am not saying he should go all out on treatments yet but adjusting your playback with a problematic room is not an efficient route to take.
I guess we are on the same page Anthony. Before putting your speakers in the room, ha...

Hey Anthony,Your project is going on track (and looks like a very good track)! Just a reminder about the room acoustics. You are talking about bass frequencies which are as dependent to the room as the speaker! Before installing your speakers into y...

You can contact autotech of Poland. They manufacture a lot of different horns. http://horns-diy.pl/en/...

I am actually doing the bass and ULF with different modules and amps. My bass modules are the dual tad boxes driven with their dedicated monoblock solid state amplification. The tapped horn is working for ULF only as it is crossed at 30hz with 18db. ...

I got what you mean. It is one of those things I really would like to try as well. When I started my project, I was going to have an array of scanspeak drivers but I had problems with the distributor here. It was then I got the Tad's and went 16" ins...

You may remember that my bass reflex boxes were sitting on top of the carpet. I installed a few days ago, 4 brass spikes under each one, then their foots to sit on, and put them on the sandwich granite bases I made. Bases are 50kg each now!I have als...

Side diffusors are 2 d parabolic with absorption at the back. They are very good, absorbing the lower registers and diffusing the higher. This way they do not suck the life out of the sound (over absorption of hf)I also work with carpet and even otto...

Hello Mario,I enjoyed this calibration file. I like to have a reference like this. I will be getting the 7th album you have released with some Schubert and Lizst music I like. It is nice to see you and your company is trying better yourselves and mov...

After trying these reticulated foams for some time now, I ended up with using them only on the JMLC 1400 with the Radian 475 beryllium drivers. I had a smallish bump about where it worked. It flattened out and the sound changed a little. It sounded a...

I have used an aquarium filter foam, it is exactly the same foam. It can be bought from aquarium stores but you have to shape it and cut it. You can layer them one on top each other and cover any horn up to 50cm diameter with the one I have found. He...
